Jamaican Bolt watch out for Jantsen Smith!

With the Olympics going on right now, Kyle and I have been really into almost every event. Whether it is swimming, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, track and field, or whatever the sport, we have LOVED watching it. Go USA!! Jantsen has seemed to be interested in knowing if "our team" or "our color of team" won (a.k.a. the "good guys" or the USA). But it hasn't been until the track and field events have started that he has REALLY gotten into. Jantsen has always LOVED to run. I use to ask him what makes him happy and his answer almost every time was "I like to run. Running makes me happy." He loves running EVERYWHERE, back and forth from the couches, around the table, racing to a soccer goal. Anytime he can run, he does!! Well so I guess it shouldn't be surprising to see how he responded when watching the running events during the Olympics. With all the other sports he would just sit and watch, but not with the track events.

Just like in this short video, every time there is a race about to start, he comes over to the couch, goes through his racing routine, jumps up and down, gets down in "the blocks", shakes out his legs, etc...and then races! He goes through the exact same routine that the Olympians do. And the crazy thing is that we didn't even teach or tell him to do it. He just saw it, wanted to try it, and went for it.

After the first night of watching the races, I was going through his clothes, I found an old kid Brazilian soccer jersey. But he made it his "Racing Shirt" and that is what he calls it. My hopes of him being a soccer star quickly faded at that point. Anyways, it is fun to see how into the racing events he is. I want to get a better video of the whole "process" of his racing, and so I might post another video later. I do have one of him and Kambryn practicing their racing. It is just cute to see Kambryn copy what Jantsen was doing.

So those are my hopes for the 2024 Olympics. Jantsen our Track Star! Kyle did ask me after a couple of days of the track events if Omaha has little kid track clubs or camps or something. If he loves it, why not!

Kyle and I went on a short bike ride yesterday down to the Missouri River. We had planned on biking along a trail out to the airport, but we almost got caught in a rain storm, so we had to truck it back up the hill to miss the rain. The kids LOVE the bike trailer (we call it a Buggy) and Kyle and I enjoyed getting out as a family. I think we might plan on doing something like this at least once a week. If only Omaha wasn't so hilly or if we had a bike rack on our SUV. But it is a great workout hauling 50+ extra pounds of kids up a steep hill.
