Conference Weekend

Here are some of the things that I love about Conference Weekend:
  • Listening to the inspired words of our Prophet and wonderful leaders of the church
  • Knowing that the work still continues to go forth (5 new temples announced, more missionaries and members, WOW!)
  • Spending time with my family (picnics, family gatherings)
  • Explaining to Jantsen the significance of conference and why we stay home from church
  • Spending Saturday evening out with the girls and kids while the husbands are at Priesthood session
  • The beautiful weather that somehow ALWAYS comes on that Saturday and Sunday
  • The documentaries or LDS short programs that play between the sessions
  • Feeling the spirit in my home (having the sweet voice of President Monson in our home is so strong)
  • Having my dad turn on every radio and TV for the sessions so that all of us kids would hear it no matter where we were throughout the house (I miss not having KSL radio)
  • Hearing the Tabernacle Choir sing the wonderful hymns
  • Hearing from each member of the first presidency at the priesthood session (Kyle's addition to the list)
  • Conference Sunday is more relaxed giving us the opportunity to have the spirit in our home for the entire day (church doesn't start until 1:00pm, however Sundays are usually chaotic trying to get everyone ready)

I am grateful to my parents for teaching me the importance and how special General Conference is in my life. I hope that Kyle and I will be able to teach Jantsen and Kambryn about the importance of General Conference. Of course all the talks are great and are filled with so much wisdom and simple principles that will make our life here on earth happier, but I am especially grateful for our dear prophet President Monson and his closing talk on Sunday morning. I am thankful for the reminder to keep my priorities and the things that are important to me in order. I am excited for the Ensign to come out next month so that I can be reminded of the wonderful words of counsel that have been shared this conference weekend.

So true! I love all your reasons why you love conference. I have to admit that it has been hard watching conference with Shelby this time though...she's more interested in watching the wiggles on youtube than listening to our prophet. If only Jansten could teach her a thing or two!

Such cute pictures. My bro Kyle is so handsome! Don't tell him I said that. Tell him I think he's ugly. Have a fun Sunday night!

Hi Janel! I love Conference so much, too. You described it perfectly. You guys are such good parents! Your kids will grow up loving Conference as much as you do.

Conference Weekend always makes me a little homesick. But it's fun to crank up the volume on the computer and try to entertain the kids for hours. Your little set up looked comfy!

DUDE, AMEN!!! I love that your dad turns on every radio, totally the same way at Joe's house and mine when my mom was here. I know you are doing a great job at teaching your children Janel, you are such a good mom! I love ya! By the way, for some reason that picture isn't working on my computer anymore either I am going to have to change it!

Ditto! I'm glad you had such a great weekend, we did to! It's always great though no matter what. Looked like you had some good activities for the kids. Me? I failed, I rented a season of Thomas the Train and had the boys watch it in the other room. I need to have them in there though and provide some good activities. Kudos to you! What a great mom and a good example, thanks!

Wow, you are so good to make your kids sit down and watch it. I tried that and then just let them go upstairs and play video games so I could actually listen myself. You are good mom, I am bad mom.

What a great example you guys are for you kids. That's a good idea to find church related things for them to work on while watching.

I loved your previous post. And I love conference weekend, although small children and newborns keep me from most of it, but at least we get it printed!
