I have mentioned how much I LOVE Jantsen's kindergarten class and how lucky he is that he gets to go to the zoo. Well I LOVE it even more! The kids were able to host a Thanksgiving Feast in their class for their families on Nov. 24. Kyle, Kambryn and I went down and spent a few hours with Jantsen at his class for their little feast. It really was just soup and cornbread.
The students put on a little Thanksgiving performance for their guests and I recorded a few of the songs and poems that they performed for us.
The very last song that they taught the parents is a song called "A-Tuti-Tot". It has actions and dancing and the kids loved teaching their parents this crazy song. Unfortunately I was too busy singing and dancing that I didn't record it, but I just have to say that Jantsen was laughing SO hard during the whole song!! He loved seeing his mom and dad and the grown-ups with their bums up, elbows back, tongue out, eyes shut, and dancing in a circle, etc...He could barely stand up because he was laughing so hard.
*Funny story about Jantsen picking school over coming home early.*
His teacher gave the kids the option of going home with their parents or staying until the end of school (they still had about 2 more hours left of school). Well I turned to Jantsen and without hesitation, he said "Mom I want to stay." "Are you sure Jantsen? You can come home early." "No Mom, I want to stay at school. Is Abby staying?" (Abby is this super cute girl in his class and is his favorite person in his class. Her mom says that Jantsen is Abby's favorite too and talks about him all the time. TOO CUTE) Well Jantsen ended up staying the 2 hours (as well as Abby). The funny thing is that most kids went home with their parents, and then the kids that did stay, had to be talked into staying. I am glad that Jantsen likes school so much.
THANKSGIVING 2009
We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Institute with a few of the families in our complex. It really was just a group of people that either weren't going home or didn't have a place to go eat. We were the misfits. But that's okay because we had some really great food and of course, PIES!
I was in charge of cooking the Turkey (yeah a little intimidating) but it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. All the food was great and there was A LOT of it! I am just glad that we have good friends that we can get together with at the last minute and still have a good fun-filled holiday!
After eating, the kids went wild and played with whatever they could find. They guys played a rousing game of Ping Pong Around the World. And of course the girls, well we looked at all the Black Friday ads. Some planned their shopping routes, while others sat back and just talked (or ate pie in my case). I was a little bummed that I didn't have the desire to go shopping on black Friday this year. I think it was because I wasn't shopping with my mom, I didn't really have anything that I totally needed to buy, we are poor college students, but mainly because I am pregnant and waking up at 3 am, ON PURPOSE, I just couldn't see the point. But next year I will be back at the crazy shopping day!
Anyways, we had a great Thanksgiving and we are so Thankful for the many blessings that our Heavenly Father gives us daily!
