Kambryn was having her 3rd birthday party today...
well this wasn't the type of party (a party at the ER room) that I was expecting today especially after I spent the last 2 weeks planning this fun party for my sweet three year old.

I think she would agree too!!
This was not how the day was scheduled to go. But when is a day ever exactly how you plan or expect it to go when you have kids.

Here is her fractured right collar bone. She really is one tough cookie!
Well we were headed off to Hyvee to pick up the balloons that I already ordered for her big party this afternoon. I was walking down the stairs in our house, carrying Talan, and Kambryn was following me so we could go outside and get in the car. Right as I stepped of the last stair I hear Kambryn scream and then I turned around and down she was coming, rolling, flipping and all. If you ask her what happened she tells everyone that "I rolled and rolled down the stairs." I knew something was wrong right as she sat up and was crying. It wasn't a scared cry, it was a "I am hurt" cry. So I called Kyle, started bawling to him, and he rushed home from work.
On the way to the hospital I called my wonderful friend Lisa and let her know what happened and she took care of calling all of Kambryn's little friends. Well I actually couldn't talk to her because I was an emotional wreck. (I felt so bad for Kambryn and I was scared and sad and I just couldn't compose myself to talk on the phone...weird...I know!)
Anyways, so we got to the Children's hospital, the gave her some pain meds, took some xrays, fitted her with a cute little dinosaur sling and then sent us on our way.
We did come home to a "Get Better Kambryn" card from her friend Rylee. Thanks Jenny and Rylee, you guys are so sweet!!
Kambryn is still in a lot of pain and really heistant to move at all. I finally got her to lay down on me and she fell asleep pretty quick. I am sure when she wakes up she will be hurting. Of course like every parent, you wish you could take away all their pain. But right now I get to deal with the "feeling helpless" feeling and I guess all I can do is hold her, stroke her hair, give her whatever she wants, and tell her that she will feel better soon!
Oh and she was concerned about the balloons and making sure that we can still have them to give to her friends. She was so excited for her party...we will just have to wait until Monday.

Poor Kam! I am so sad for her and you! I hope the pain meds help and she can enjoy her party on Monday!
No way! What a scary day. She sure is cute laying there in her sling though.
Tears!!!! Happy late birthday to Kambryn, how hard for you Janel! I'm so sorry, BTW, your new little one is absolutely darling!
This is all so sad! I hope she has a good time on Monday with her friends. She looks pretty even when sleeping with a sling on her, which is awfully cute too.
Ouch. That must have been so scary. We hope she has a happy birthday on Monday.
That is sooo sad.:( Poor Kambryn! I hope she still gets to have her party on Monday.
Oh my gosh!!! I'm so sorry. How sad. I hope that she recovers quickly. Good luck. I hate it when I can't take my kids pain away. I wish I was there to help. I hope she can still have a wonderful party!!!
Poor Kambryn! It is so hard when you see your little one get hurt. I remember freaking out when Katelyn got a bee sting...ridiculous, I know. I hope she heals quickly and has a fun birthday anyway.
Oh no! Give her a love for us! Take good care, all of you! We sure miss ya and think of ya often!
Oh Janelly how awful!!! I can just imagine how hard that was for you!!! Poor little thing I hope she feels better soon!!! Are they optimistic about it healing correctly? Love you lady!!!
It's funny, when it's your child you just fall apart. there are times when my boys are sick and i call into work, i don't know if i am scared to call them or it's the looks on a child's face that sends a mom's emotion into a wreck. Bless her heart....she won't forget this birthday!
I feel totally creepy doing this but I'm really in need of some help...My husband and I are moving to Omaha this summer(for law school.) I've been doing some major blog stalking/hunting to find some other LDS Mom's and wives to talk to and I stumbled across your blog. If there is anyway you could/feel comfortable about giving me advice about moving there I would really appreciate it! My e-mail address is mrsamandajane@gmail.com, if you are uncomfortable with this at all though I totally understand.
i had to smile at the idea of you calling your hubby in tears cause I did the exact same thing. My baby got his fingers smashed in the door and I too called my husband in a panic and he came home to see if they were broken. (thye wern't, at least I don't think tye were) Good thing kids are made of rubber! get well soon Kam. Oh and by the way I think it is awesome that you have a stranger asking for some advice! Give her some. How awesome!
