(I guess you could add the wedding weekend into the whole mix of it too..and the reason I am writing this is mainly for my memories. There were some good, some not so good, some horrible, and also just wonderful times these past 8 weeks. It really seems like forever ago Dustin and Jen got married. Wow.)
So anyways, here it all is...in all it's glory.
We had the wedding stuff (Wed-Sat). Kyle flies to DC on Sunday. Talan breaks his collarbone Monday morning. Kyle flies back to Utah on Thursday. We have one week until we are moving to KC so we have LOTS and LOTS of packing to do.
(The sign says "Welcome to are (our) new house.
The kids were excited for the adventure of packing
and moving)
Friday my whole entire purse is stolen while taking Talan's 1 year pictures. The pictures turned out AMAZING and luckily the guy dumped my purse (what a blessing...my phone, my camera, my flip camera and $100 gift card...recovered all that!) and he just took my wallet. He got away with about $7 in cash (not so bad) but my wallet also had about $100 of gift cards that the kid most likely just dumped in the garbage after he took the cash. But I cannot even begin to describe how violated I felt and horrible it was to watch on the security camera as the guy took off with my purse. AGH it was awful. But it could have ended up a lot worse. So that was Fridays adventure. (more of these pictures on a different post)
Sunday my Grandpa went to the hospital. I am really close to my Grandpa and Grandma and knowing that I was moving in 4 days, with him in the hospital, and as bad as he was...all I can say, it was a roller coaster for the next few days. Sunday-Wednesday was sort of a blur for me. I am just so blessed to have such a wonderful husband that allowed me to spend as much time with my Grandpa and family at the hospital that I could. Even though we had all the packing we needed to get done, it was almost as if I was living at the hospital or at my Grandma's house so she wasn't by herself. Thank you Kyle! That time I spent with my Grandpa and Grandma, and other family members, during those days are memories that I will cherish forever!
From Monday-Wednesday, Kyle picked up the Penske truck, loaded our storage unit (with help my my brothers), took care of all 3 kids all day while I was at the hospital, packed up all the stuff at my parents, dropped the truck off at his dad's, the list really goes on and on what he did. Kambryn also had her last dance and gymnastic classes and Jantsen had a half birthday party at his class and Talan started walking. Those 3 days were packed to the brim with things to do. We had to try and say good bye to all our family and friends and squeeze in every last second we could with them.

Well Thursday morning finally came at we hit the road at about 6:45am. Saying good bye to my parents and siblings was pretty rough. My mom, and especially my dad had a hard time that day too. We are thankful, I am thankful, for the love and support they gave us while we were staying at their house.
Well about 3 minutes into the drive, our car TV decided to break. 17 hour drive with 3 kids and no car TV...you have got to be kidding. Well luckily we had our old portable DVD player so we hooked that up and it worked just fine. So we were off. The kids were great during the drive.
We decided to stop in Laramie for lunch. That is when our adventures kept going. It had already been quite the week...I mean weeks. But as our family was getting back into the car after eating, Kyle gets a call from Kade saying that the truck has broken down! What?!! We weren't all traveling together and were just planning on meeting in Lincoln NE at the hotel we had booked for the night. LUCKILY...they were in Laramie too and were only one exit down from us.
Long story short. It took about 2 1/2 hours for a few different maintenance guys to figure out that we needed a new truck. And Cheyenne didn't have a truck so they had to send one from Denver (3 hours away). Rick and Kade stayed the night in Laramie and we decided to go onto Lincoln (which we had 2 rooms reserved so it cost us there). What a hassle. Penske did send about 4 guys up with the truck to unload and load the new truck so that Kade and Rick didn't have to do it. All they had to do is supervise.
The rest of the drive went well. I got a call from my dad that my grandpa had finally passed away that evening. I am grateful for the days that I spent with him and was able to talk and get council from him. What an amazing man!
Friday we woke up and were about to take off and got another call from Kade. The truck from Denver now had something wrong with it. The brake alarm was going off. Yes...yes of course it was. When it rains...it pours right?! And in our case...it is a hail/hurricane/tornado/earthquake all in one. After another 1 1/2 delay the same maintenance guy just unhooked the brake alarm (is that legal??) and said that they should be fine. I am just glad I wasn't the one driving the truck. But Rick said it was fine and off they went...from Laramie Wyoming. They had to drive all the way to Kansas City in one day!! We only had about a 5 hour drive so it wasn't too bad for us.
But we finally got our key to our home. Went and checked out the place....I love it! (but had about 3 feet of snow that we needed to shovel off the driveway to get the truck in to unload. Good work Kyle!) and then we went to the hotel that we had booked for the night (so glad we did because we didn't have any of our beds that we originally thought we would have set up that night). So Pa and Kade finally made it to the hotel at about 1:00am on Saturday (original plan was Friday afternoon) but we spent all day Saturday unloading and putting up beds. Except for the boy's bunk beds because we couldn't find the hardware...again add it to the week from hell. But that's okay..we made it safe and sound. We are excited for our new adventure back in the Midwest.
Rick and Kade flew back to Salt Lake on Sunday afternoon. We spent some time showing them around KC a little bit so their trip wasn't just for driving a truck and unloading it.
I flew back to Utah on Monday evening for my grandpa's funeral. I was there until Wednesday. I didn't bring any of the kids (which many people weren't very happy about) but it was a nice break for me. Kyle started right up at working and life just kept going. Jantsen started school and Kambryn started dance. Things aren't too busy except for putting a house together. But we still have found time to have some fun.
(well I wrote this post like the end of Feb and was adding pictures to it and then half of it was erased. So it was more detailed, but I guess if you wait 2 months, memories and details get forgotten and then mushed together. But that was the adventure wrapped all up.)
So here starts all my updating and rededicating myself to blogging.
