The kids and I made a list of fun things that they want to do this summer. I have really been feeling bad about the last 5 1/2 months in KC and being sick and laying on the couch the entire time (we all remember the picture that Jantsen drew.)
So I really wanted to make sure that we did as many fun things that we could think of this summer. I was calling it our "Bucket List" but Jantsen didn't like that name so we are referring to it as the
"Summer List of Fun Ideas"
(makes more sense apparently)
Anyways, on this "list" are about 40 different things ranging in things that cost money, things we need to travel somewhere too, things we can do in the backyard, things we can make, things that we do everyday anyways, etc... you get the idea.
Well I can say that having this list stuck on the fridge has helped us already have such a fun summer!
We have been BUSY! or I guess I should say, even if we do things at the house, we have a purpose to it so it seems like we are busy!
Jantsen and Kambryn love picking out the activity for the next day too. Surprisingly they have been really great in sharing the choices and participating. Jantsen is happy to make cookies and Kambryn is happy to play croquet in the backyard. I hope it lasts!
**Making Cookies**
(Kambryn's choice)

It is boring waiting for cookies to bake!
Finally they are ready to be eaten!
Having 4 dozen cookies sitting around the house is not the best thing,
so we delivered a bunch to the neighbors.
(Don't worry we definitely kept our fair share to eat)
**Kennacott Copper**
(every one's idea)

They were offering free admission up at the mine. It is something that I have always wanted to do so we headed up on Friday to check it out.
I think we went at the busiest time ever! and it was so windy up at the top of the mine too.
Kambryn said she was bored the whole time, Jantsen loved watching the trucks do their jobs and how big they were, and I think that I discovered that Talan might have a fear of heights. He was much more comfortable being in his stroller or walking around the visitor center than being held and looking over the railing. Or else he didn't like the wind, whichever it is, I didn't mind having him in the stroller.
Right up that road to the left of Jantsen we were able to see them do a "Blasting" for the day. A whole lot of dynamite about 50 feet under ground being blown up to break up the rocks. Pretty cool to see.
I usually drag my mom and Curt into most of the activities that we do each day.
I hope they don't mind. I know my kids love having it be more than just me with them!
Another example showing me how badly Talan is in need of a hair cut.
Inside the visitor center looking at different rocks under microscopes.
The tires are huge...can you imagine being up next to a truck that has 4 of those tires. HUGE!
Watching the movie was my favorite part. It was pretty interesting, but truthfully, mainly because it was air conditioned and I was able to sit down.
Some of the other things that are on our list that we have done:
*Kangaroo Zoo (sadly no pictures...we went with Kristen and Kara and the kids)
I love cousin play time! So much fun!
*Play at the mall playground (it rained that day so it totally fit in with our schedule...works for me.)
*Board Games ("Guess Who"...best game from the 90's. Kambryn and Jantsen love that game now.)
*Play Croquet in the backyard (Curt and Jantsen play this almost every day for hours!)
*Happy Meal dinner at the park (it is summer...anything goes for me)
I will post about our adventures that we had today... later.
(day up American Fork canyon and a hike to Timpanogus cave)
