Jantsen

Jantsen is growing up so quickly!
He is in 2nd grade and LOVES school!
Kyle just went to his parent/teacher conference this last week
and his teacher was so happy he is in her class.

::SCHOOL::
--He is doing wonderful on all his spelling tests.
Getting 100% every week for the pretest
so on Friday he has to spell the challenge words.
(words like "photosynthesis" and "metacognition")

--He is reading pass a 3rd grade level.
Right now he loves reading the series of books
called "The Magic Treehouse". And he reads
about 12 of those books a month.

--He loves to Learn about different facts.
For the Book Fair at school these are the books
he requested to buy
"Discovery Kids Almanac 2011"
"The Science Encyclopedia"
"Guinness Book of World Records"
Apparently that was
exactly how Kyle was as a kid.
He ended up getting the science one, and he loves it!

--He wants to get better at Math, but I think
he still is pretty good.
But he says he isn't know as the "Math King" and
he wants to be.

--He loves recess and PE. But what boy doesn't!

--He started getting hot lunch at school.
I love it because I don't have to make him
a lunch everyday now, and also it means
he isn't being such a picky eater and is trying new things.

--He also LOVES riding the bus home from school.
We seriously live like a block away from his school but they
offer a bus for them anyways. Makes the afternoons not as hectic
for me and he feels special riding a big school bus.

--He is becoming a pretty good artist.
He is always bringing home his work from art class
and I am always surprised how easy he makes it look.
Which also goes along with his creative mind
with writing stories.  He loves to add little details in his writing.

 ::SPORTS::
This is Jantsen's main love!
This kid LOVES loves loves sports!
He loves playing sports, watching sports, learning about sports,
anything to do with any sport, HE LOVES!

He did so great this last season in soccer.
There were a few off games where there was no aggression
in him. (it happens a lot more than we like)
but he is a good soccer player.

The team that Jantsen played on had all pretty much
played together last season, but Jantsen was new to the team.
At the end of the year award party,
his coach was very complimentary of Jantsen
and said that "Jantsen made a big difference this year and
was a great addition to the team."
Good Job Buddy!

He really wants to play baseball still, and we will probably have
him do both soccer and baseball in the spring.
This winter we are starting him in basketball.
I am a little nervous for that. Luckily
he has Kyle who loves helping him and practicing with him.

Saturdays are one of Jantsen's favorite days...as well as Kyle's.
The two of them can spend all day watching college football
(and lately the world series games too) and never get bored!
If Jantsen ever has to go to be before a game is over, he
always asks Kyle to tell him the score in the morning.

::HOME::

I am so glad to have Jantsen as our oldest child.
He is a great example to his siblings
and they love playing with him (most of the time).

He is always coming up with some contraption
to push or pull around on the sidewalks.

He is learning to do more chores and responsibilities at home.
Taking out the garbage on garbage day, clearing off the table
after dinner, yard work with dad on Saturdays
and the usual making his bed, folding his clothes,
cleaning up the toy room.
He doesn't complain that often about it, but of course, he
doesn't love to do them either.

We are so proud of you Jantsen
and We Love You Biggest Buddy!!
