Thankful in November

Well here is a quick look back at the month of November. I really hate playing catch up because I forget details and stories and moments that I wish I would have written down. But life happens and I guess I do what I can.
So here we go with about the bazillionth update I have done on our little family blog.

  • Nov. 16:: I was able to volunteer at Kambryn's preschool Thanksgiving Feast.  They were served the perfect 4 year old full course meal including: lil' smokies, ham and cheese cubes, carrots, popcorn, grapes, cookies, and a Caprisun.  What a feast!

(Kambryn with her "best friend" Meghan)

  •   November 17-19:: Evelyn came to visit.  It was a quick visit but so great to have Grandma Nana here. To love and cuddle Baby Bodie, and spoil the other kids, nothing is better than that!

Highlights of the trip:
*Evelyn was able to experience the best BBQ- Oklahoma Joes!
*The Train Restaurant- Fritz! Can't go there without wearing the conductor hats!
*Christmas Decorations at the Crown Center- It was a little hard to feel like winter when it was over 65 degrees outside.
*A night drive showing off KC
We love having visitors.
  •  November 19:: Evelyn flies with Talan back to Utah.  We were driving out to Utah for Thanksgiving and Kade's wedding on the 23rd so Evelyn and Kristen volunteered to keep Talan in Utah for us until we arrived. It was so CUTE to see him carry his blanket through security and then realize how big his is getting. But it was so SAD to see him carry his blanket through security and realize how big he is getting. Very mixed emotions for Kyle and I.

He ended up doing a great on the plane. Bless Evelyn for taking a busy 22 month old on a flight.
I am sure all Talan was thinking is "I have the coolest Grandma Nana in the world!"
It was a rough first few days for him with all the transitioning between homes and new people. Kind of a lot for our little guy.
Talan spent a night with Evelyn, a few nights with Kristen, and then a night at my parent's house.
We were all pretty excited to finally see him on Wednesday night!
Thank you to all who helped with him.

We decorated our house for Christmas before we left for Utah. I love Christmas lights!
  • November 23-December 4:: Utah Trip for Thanksgiving, Bodie's Blessing, and Kade/Jasmine's wedding. (there is no way I am going to put everything in that happened during these 10 days. I will try to expand on some events in other posts. Way too much fun to be had in Utah!)
(Note::My kids spent so much time with their cousins during this vacation...I am going to have to save it for another post all the fun things they did. (movies, Liberty Land, bounce house in St. George, endless hours of playing, decorating the Tree, running wild at the wedding dinner...I could go on and on. But I will during another post!)

The drive to Utah was Fabulous! We went across I-80 and stayed in Kearney, Nebraska for the night.
We missed Talan like crazy, but I have to be honest, it was really nice not having him in the car for a 2-day (17 hours total) drive.
Jantsen and Kambryn had fun watching movies, eating treats, taking naps and sprawling out on their own seats. Bodie was a champ and slept awesome! I think I only fed him 2 times in a total of about 9 hours.
We arrived at our hotel around 9:20pm and were able to run down to the pool and swim for about 30 minutes! That was the best thing. It wore Jantsen and Kambryn right out and they were ready for bed.
All I can say is my kids absolutely are in love with staying at hotels!
I think they would rather sleep and swim at a hotel then get presents. They love it!
We had a great drive the next day and were pretty excited to see Talan.

::Thanksgiving::Black Friday Shopping::
Dinner at my parent's house. I love cooking thanksgiving dinner...so much good food!
Pie and snacks later at Evelyn's.
And being around family is the best.

**Happy Thanksgiving 2011**

We braved the crowds during black Friday this year. And I am serious when I say "Crowds"! I have never seen so many people out shopping in the wee-hours of the night! I think it had to do with all the sales starting at midnight.
We started at Target (took us 30 minutes to even get into the store, after the opened the doors.  30 minutes just to wind through the line. CRAZY!)
We also went to Kohl's (nothing great there) and the Mall (the Disney store was awesome again this year!) Best place to find toys for Disney loving kids.
It was a successful night, but I was tired when it was done!
We also went to Pa and Claudia's for a brunch.

::Bodie's Blessing::
November 27
We blessed Bodie at my parent's house and had so many wonderful family members come and support us!
We love our little Bodie and are so grateful to have him in our family! It was such a wonderful day. Kyle gave an amazing blessing.  I was filled with so much love and appreciation to all our family.
Families are amazing and I am a pretty lucky girl to have the families that I do.

::Kade and Jasmine's Wedding in St. George::
We drove down to St. George for the wedding weekend!
Kara and Greg had some connections and so the siblings stayed in this amazing condo together!
More time with family+more cousin time=Good times!
I am "borrowing" some pictures from Kara of the wedding, because that is what you do when you have an amazingly talented sister-in-law who was the photographer.

We had an amazing time in St. George. My kids and their cousins had a blast playing together, watching movies, playing with Uncle Kade at the bounce house, and dancing the night away at the reception.

We left way too late on Saturday Dec 3 after the reception but it was totally worth it! We had a blast on our vacation!
We finally stopped in Rawlins,Wyoming for the night. We drove the rest of the way and finally arrived safe and sound late Sunday night.
That pretty much sums up November for the Smith Family!
Looking back, it went by so fast but we had a great time!
