Here is the recap of my trip to DC with Kyle!
Again...IT WAS SO WONDERFUL!
Thursday I flew out with Talan. It was a 4 hour flight and I was alittle nervous for how Talan might do, but really he did great! I gave him benadryl but it didn't make him sleep. But I can't complain. He was great on the plane. Didn't cry or whine or anything. Just was his happy, smiley self.
So we arrived at the Baltimore airport around 11:30pm and pretty much just went straight to bed that night. Kyle had to get up the next morning around 7:30 for his classes, but Talan and I slept in until about 9:30. Oh it was so nice.
While Kyle was at his classes on Friday, Talan and I spent the day at the mall. I love shopping, especially when I can browse and go in any store I want and not have to worry if a kid has to go to the bathroom, or is hungry, or their legs hurt from walking, or whatever else I hear ALL the time when I take all 3 kids shopping. And Talan slept in the stroller for most of it. So nice.
Later that evening, Kyle and I then went to the BEST Mexican restaurant for dinner, Uncle Julios. Oh so good! and then we went and saw all the monuments at night. (a recommendation from Kristen and Jeremy.) I am so glad we did that. It was awesome to see all the monuments lit up. Too bad that pictures just don't do it justice at all.
Talan and me at the Jefferson Memorial
Kyle and Talan outside the FDR memorial/park.
This place was gorgeous to walk around in.
Saturday we spent the whole day walking around downtown DC. We rode the metro into downtown and were there from about 2:30 until almost 9:30 just hanging out downtown. I loved this day! I was able to walk hand in hand with Kyle, talking, laughing and really just hanging out. I was loving it. We both were loving it. And Talan was so great the whole time. We were able to see the Archives Museum (the Declaration, Constitution, and Bill of Rights) and then we saw the usual; Capital, White House, Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson monuments. We walked a ton that day. But it was so much fun. Oh and we ate at Potbelly's for lunch too. Pretty darn good sandwiches!
Waiting for the Metro
Outside the Archives Museum. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the museum. I could have spent all day in that place. It was pretty interesting the things you can learn about.
Lunch at Potbelly's. We shared a sandwich and a milkshake. Cute huh!
Walking around downtown. The capital building is behind Kyle...way back in the sun. You can't see it very well. It is a beautiful building, and it is even more gorgeous at night when it is all lit up.
Kyle was happy to be a dad for the weekend. Talan was loving riding on his shoulders. He would squeeze Kyle's hair and ears so tight and then hit him on the head and smiling the whole time. Definitely enjoying himself.
- The White House-
It would be so weird to live in the white house and have people standing outside taking pictures, protesting, and doing all sorts of things, all day, everyday. And to just be inside watching it all.
I had to add this last picture because of Talan's smile. He is so stinking cute, at least I think.
Once the sun went down we didn't take as many pictures. I just wish we had a better camera because downtown is beautiful at night. Again, pictures just don't do it justice.
We ended the night eating at a really nice restaurant called Redwood or something like that. We ordered Lamb...first time for me. and really, not that great. But it was fun to try something new.
Sunday was my fly home day. Before driving back up to Baltimore we stopped by the Washington DC temple and spent about an hour just walking around. I love this temple! It is huge, and gorgeous, and massive, and beautiful. The temple grounds are amazing too. And it couldn't have been a more perfect Sunday morning too! It was a great vacation so far without Jantsen and Kambryn, but while we were at the temple we were wishing they were with us too.
We made our way up to Baltimore to spend the afternoon on the Chesapeake Bay Harbor.
And for a Sunday afternoon, that place was Busy!
The best part of the day in Baltimore was our lunch. We ate at the best seafood little restaurant.
Lobster, crab, mussels, clams, calamari, crab cakes...holy smokes it was all good!
Lobster, crab, mussels, clams, calamari, crab cakes...holy smokes it was all good!
It was not fun saying goodbye to Kyle. I miss him a lot. It was a great weekend though. I am a lucky girl. And I can't wait to see him again next week!
Love you babe!
I have to say Thanks again to all our family that helped with Jantsen and Kambryn!
Jantsen went down to Richfield on Wednesday night (he had UEA vacation and so he didn't miss any school) and stayed the weekend with James and Cami. And from what Cami has told me, they all had a blast!!!
Kambryn went to Kristen and Jeremy's and they had a so much fun also. I was worried she wouldn't sleep very well or would be a brat or something, but Kristen said that she was great and they had a great time. Yay!

I am so freakin jealous. I've never been anywhere. How nice that you have someone that can take your kids and you and Kyle can have so much fun together. I know that it has been hard with him gone, so I'm really glad that you were able to spend so much time together. Love all the pics.
That Talan of yours has a smile that melts your heart! I love his cheesey smiles! cute!!

You look so great, Janel. Now I've got to go get my butt on the treadmill.
This looks fabulous. Every single picture of that Talan makes me laugh. Especially the one of him on Kyle shoulder's and a random one in front of the white house where he is touching a stranger's arm. He is so cute. Sounds like you need to go back asap! I am glad you guys got a weekend together.
And Didn't Kyle take you to get a super high class dessert at chick fil a? Haha. I did just try the cookies and cream shake though and it is delish!

Seriously, you have to spend like a year in DC to see everything. I loved it. I want to go back again cause we were only there for a week. Love the pics you are gorgeous!
