But we can sum this one up in one short phrase.
"My mom has morning sickness."
This is a picture of me dealing with morning sickness. Apparently this is how my 6 year old views the news of us "giting a new baby" (getting a new baby).
But the sad thing is, that is exactly what I looked like for the last few months. I always had my grey sweatshirt on with some grey sweats laying on our couch. You know you have failed as a mom when this is the drawing of you that your kid brings home from school. Doesn't that person in his picture just look miserable...because really I was. (sometimes I still am but it is getting A LOT better!)
Here is the rest of the story of the most fun thing over the weekend (this was written way back in March when we found out our surprising and unexpected news)
When I first pulled this paper out of Jantsen's backpack, I laughed so hard, and then got nauseous and had to lay down (right Kyle...?) but I have had this paper hanging up on our fridge right next to the first ultrasound. Mainly to try and remind me to get off the couch so I am not a dead beat mom for my kids.
But they do ask me everyday how I am feeling or if the baby is making me sick. Both Jantsen and Kambryn are very helpful and sympathetic to my sickness. (Kyle can learn a thing or two.) I only say this because we have been joking lately how unsympathetic I am when he is sick. If he only knew what it felt like to feel like you had the flu 24/7 for 10 weeks straight...and still are required to be a functioning caretaker of 3 crazy kids. But Kyle I am sorry, I need to show more sympathy to you.
But in all honestly Kyle has been really amazing. He always is. And I am lucky and so thankful for him and all he does for me.
Well we are excited to be adding the last and final child to the Smith Family. Even though we weren't expecting to be thinking about one for another YEAR, we are very grateful and excited. Now if October can come quickly, I will be happy!

What a funny kid that Jantsen is! I love it! Glad you are starting to feeling better!
Best news ever!!! Dajel! U caught up to me so quick! I hate those first few months too, they suck! But u and Kyle make the cutest kids ever so the prize will be great! Love u and I miss u so much... Every day I wish u were here to tell me what to do with my body and be my best cheerleader ever...
I am really excited for you guys. That picture is hilarious. Don't worry about laying around. You just do what you got to do, your kids won't remember you laying on the couch. I can't remember anything like that, I only remember the fun things that my parents did with me. You are a great mom!! Hang in there!!!
Congrats! Hope you feel better soon--morning sickness is NO fun. It should really be called all-day-everyday-sickness-that-lasts-way-too-long. :)
Where do I begin. I love the picture. So priceless Janel! And DO NOT FEEL BAD about laying around. It's temporary and you need it. And dear, dear husbands, who can blame them I guess but if they only felt what we felt for a day...they would kiss our feet for doing it. hahaha
Janel, that is the sweetest and most hilarious thing I think I have ever seen! When I was pregnant with this last guy, my morning sickness was the worst of all my kids. The girls were playing with their dolls, and Lily said, "Hi, I'm the mommy. I need to lay down." Then laid the doll on the couch. FAIL. Maybe they'll forget these things about us when they grow up, right? :) Love them! We miss you guys!
hilarious. what a funny kid. i'm glad you are feeling good. i couldn't imagine being sick AND taking care of 3 kids. you deserve to lay down all day everyday! they will survive:)
oh and thanks for that post below... it got me to update my blog too:) it really is so important and we will all be so grateful we did it one day. i'm sure we already do:)
love ya tons!
Congrats!! :) Sorry you don't feel well though. I think few things are harder than being a sick mom.
